What our experts say

  • The proliferation of ICT technologies is happening. While we have demonstrated that communications technologies can play a vital role in reducing carbon emissions worldwide, we are also taking responsibility for the individual impact of these products and services in social and environmental terms. With the development of the Sustainability Assessment Framework (SASF) we established a comprehensive assessment framework which is applicable to all our members. The Framework allows us to understand what makes a product or service sustainable and how we can further improve our product performance.

Andreas Harker, Chair of Industry Responsibility Committee GeSI, ‎Head of CSR Supply Chain Swisscom
  • The SASF is the first sustainability tool of its kind worldwide which is designed to cover a large number of products of the global ICT industry, including complex ICT services. In a transdisciplinary approach, we have developed the SASF with the aim to provide ICT companies with a comprehensive, but practicable management approach to channel their resources efficiently for improving the sustainability performance of their product portfolio. Now, the onus is on the ICT companies to embrace the SASF and show that they are seriously interested in improving the environmental and social standards in their global value chain.
